I was supposed to move to Newcastle at the end of September but everything PhD wise has been really delayed. HOWEVER, all the travelling back and forward hasn’t been too bad, as we found a new lunch spot – Cook House. It was thoroughly miserable outside and we literally ran there with umbrellas, so the log burning stove was just what the doctor ordered.
Cook House is in an old shipping container but is beautifully decorated inside. It is the kitchen of The Grazer, a wonderful food blogger who makes you want to cook ALL the time.
The lunch menu changes daily and is just the kind of food I like. Think roast pork belly sandwiches (a winner), smoked mackerel pate and wild duck terrine.
The whipped feta and pear on toast was magic and something I’d never come across before.
Simple, nutritious and delicious. Will definitely be going back. You can find the Cook House (hopefully) on Ouse Street, Newcastle – it’s a hidden gem.
