There are people that eat 3 square meals a day and there are people that snack. I snack and I love it. There may be no right or wrong way to space out your daily food intake and what works for you may not work for someone else. But if you are going to snack, snack right. Meet your nutrient needs and fuel your body effectively. I personally snack a lot on nuts and bananas, trying to stay clear of most pre-prepared snack bars unless I make them myself or I know what’s in them.

My little recovery/energy balls pictured above are full of natural ingredients and rich in nutrients and I always reach for my go-to granola bar recipe if I need to stock up on snacks. The banana bran muffins are good if you are in search of something with plenty of fibre, and they keep really well.

I’m allergic to peanuts so I reach for cashew or almond butter as a lovely snack with fruit or oatcakes, or make my own cashew butter if I’m feeling fancy. You can find lots of recipes for healthier cakes and loaves and information on fruits like bananas and dates over on the blog
